Melethil Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine offers integrated healthcare using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)- specifically, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, TuiNa (acupressure/Chinese massage and muscle alignment), diet/nutrition counseling, qigong/light exercise. Patient education and empowerment are key aspects of this service.

Our interest is in providing the residents of Wilsonville, Clackamas County, and the Portland South Metro Area with an alternative to allopathic medicine. Specifically, we want to focus on providing cost-effective and innovative healthcare using TCM to address chronic constitutional conditions that are resistant to treatment by conventional western methods and pharmaceutical therapies.  We welcome opportunities to work with fellow physicians ( i.e., DCs, MDs, NDs) in a complementary capacity to serve our patients better and to advance the quality of healthcare in the U.S.

Qigong, breathwork, and food therapies (i.e., diet/nutrition counseling) are offered to patients to support their constitutional needs, as required. These therapies represent safe, and low cost ways by which patients who want to work in a pro-active fashion‒ to increase self-awareness and to improve their health‒ can do so in an integrated healthcare environment.

PK Melethil is certified by the U.S. National Certification Commission on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine- which covers Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, and Bodywork Techniques, and by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist. As a long-term student of the physical and natural sciences, he recognizes the contributions of Western Medicine and clearly sees the wisdom in utilizing a range of complementary services to provide optimal healthcare for the citizens of the Portland Metro region.

A Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)  physician licensed by the Oregon Medical Board, PK trained at and graduated with a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (M. Ac. OM.) degree from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine- one the leading schools of Traditional Chinese Medicine training and research that is based in Portland, Oregon.

Prior to working as a Licensed Acupuncturist (L. Ac.), PK worked as a Project Manager and as an applied physical and analytical chemist for over 20 years. He has worked as a Technical Services consultant on sustainability issues with a local not-for-profit NGO‒ the Zero Waste Alliance, and as a Senior Research Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory‒ a U.S. Department of Energy Multi-program National Laboratory. He holds M. S. degrees in Physical Chemistry and in Environmental Science and a B.S. degree in Polymers and Coatings.

PK Melethil traces his ancestry to the southwestern part of India‒ the fabled land of the spices that motivated Columbus to seek a new way to circumnavigate the globe, and a region that has been a center of commerce and culture for over two thousand years. He has lived in the Northwest for almost 30 years and in Wilsonville for over a decade and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities.

India is home to Ayurveda, another whole medical system, which shares many similarities in the practice of constitutional medicine, herb use, and treatment strategies, with Traditional Chinese Medicine. India is also the birthplace of yoga, which holds the position that all of us- regardless of religion, station, or education‒ have access to our inner self, if we choose to make the necessary effort.
